The fossil

(Kronosaurius quensladicus). It is a marine reptile or Plesiosaur which belongs to a lower cretaceous Kronosaurius. It appeared 110 million years ago and its size was about 7.04 meters from snout to tail. Its skull is 2.36 meters wide.

The Small Hell

This archaeological park, Pre-Muisca astronomical observatory, consists of a phallic monolith group, dolmenica and a place for meteorological and astronomical observation.

Come join us to enjoy this awesome observatory in which Saquenzipá city is buried. It is located on the way to Santa Sofia town, which is about 7 km from Villa de Leyva.

Ostrich Breeding

One of the main activities in Villa de Leyva is farming production (breeding and raising of Ostriches) at the farm "EXPEXOTICAS", which is located in the country of this beautiful town in Boyacá. It is located about 6 km from Villa de Leyva on the way to the fossil (on the road to Santa Sofia town)

At this wonderful farm, you can have this great opportunity of being in touch with the ostriches, by touching and feed them. Children also have the chance to ride on them and enjoy an unforgettable experience.

ECO-ADVENTURE

"LA PERIQUERA" WATERFALL

It is located on the way from Villa de Leyva to Gachantivá and the ruins. To get to "La Periquera" Waterfall is necessary to walk about 1 km through an exuberant vegetation, where you can contemplate the strengh and energy of nature.

At this place, you can practice rappel, which is an extreme sport. You can also swim and cool down with the fresh water of this amazing waterfall.

"ROMERA" PIT

The legend says that "Muiscas" people used this pit, which is about 35 meters deep and 15 meters wide, to throw unfaithful women.

"Romera" pit is located about 300 meters away from the road, in the bottom part of the mountain. So, if you consider yourself as a brave person, you can practice rappel at this place or descend through a high tree. Definitely, it is an extreme and awsome experince for those who seek and enjoy this kind of adventures.

FACTORY CAVES

"Factory Caves" offer you the chance of overcoming your fears, by entering into the mountain, where you can observe bats sleeping and a bunch of hair-raising stuff. Furthermore, into the mountain, you can perceive the humidity, cold and heat through the different parts of the mountain. Because of its infrastructure, this adventure demands to be in a good shape, since it is necessary to walk, crawl and climb a great deal.

MOBILE STONE

About 1 km ahead of "the pass of the Angel" is located the beginning of the route through "Salitral River". Following that route, you will get to an amazing waterfall which is next to "Mobile Stone". This rocky formation has a special feature which is that if you stand up bellow it and then touch it with your hands, you will have the amazing feeling of being moving the whole rock.

MOUNTAIN TRIP

This amazing adventure takes 2 days which is divided like this:

First day: your day will begin your tour by going to "Sorocóta waterfalls". Then you will visit "Moniquirá river", "Guateque waterfall", "blue well", "Mobile stone" and "Pass of the Angel". After that, you will spend that night inside "Arrayán jungles" (camping).

Second day: you will visit many interesting places including "the cave and the Ayal waterfall", "Romera hole" and "the Factory Cave". In the afternoon, you will get back to Villa de Leyva by horse through the desert or by car through the Hidden Valley. At least 4 pax.

RAPPEL AND TORRENTISMO IN SANTA SOFIA

It’s a great plan for both beginners and experts at these kinds of activities. You will have the chance of practicing and challenging yourself in many different amazing places including 30 meter in decline at "Romera Hole" (speleology), "Pass of Angel" 35 meters, "Sorocota waterfall" 30 meters, "Comb of the Rooster" 20 meters and "Blue Well Waterfall" 75 meters. At least 5 pax.

TORRENTISM IN THE SLING

It is a whole day adventure where you can enjoy the pick of Andean Jungle. There are 3 fantastic waterfalls with ropes where you can go in decline or jump into the water 9 meters high. It’s necessary to be an expert and being in a very good shape. At least 5 pax.

ECO-TOURIST CIRCUIT TO DESERT

It is a relax and quiet plan where you can take a walk and enjoy the landscapes and the pick of desert. It starts in the main plaza in Villa de Leyva toward the amazing desert area. You will have the opportunity of visiting many interesting places including Clay House, peasant tourism, archeological park of Moniquirá (small hell), Fossil Museum, garden of the desert, Guanani Vineyard and Blue Wells.

ECOLOGICAL JOURNEYS

PENITENT ROAD

This journey starts at the "Charming Door" and goes toward the left part of "Blue Wells". The descent is slow and easy to take. It also goes through the "Charming Rock" and the "Holy Heart".

THE PENITENT ROAD - RAPPEL IN CHARMING ROCK

Come join us to try this adventure just planned for you. You will get to the Charming Rock and there you will go down by rappel until the Charming Cannon.

CHARMING CANNON

You will start at Duruelo Lake and then you will go toward the mountain through the charming door. This door seems to separate two worlds and invite you to let your imagination and senses fly away. This road takes you to the wells, cannon and the imposing rock rampart.

CHARMING CANNON – CLIMB OF THE CHARMING ROCK

It is an adventure just like the previews one but instead of coming back through the same way, you will return by taking an ascent located next to the Charming Rock. This last part of the adventure takes about 8 – 15 minutes and then you will take the penitent road to come back to start point.

PAVING ROUTE

It starts at Duruelo gate and you will walk toward the forest which is located in the back of the cottages. Then, you will take an ascent full of rocky formations and some historical remains. At the end, you will get to an amazing farallón.
